Meet Zoe
My name is Zoe I am 19 years old, and I just got excepted into the radiology program at Iowa Central community college in Fort Dodge Iowa. A Couple of months ago I was !experiencing severe pain in one of my hips and shortly there after I discovered a mass on the opposite leg in the groin area. I went to my local doctor and they conducted an x-ray which came back showing nothing and the next step was to do an MRI, after the MRI was done it showed a plum size mass on my upper groin. The next week I had the mass removed and it was tested and the results came back as non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. After I had the pet scan to see if it has spread anywhere it was determined that I do have stage four cancer on my upper femur bone in my legs. My oncologist highly suggested that I go through the process of having some eggs retrieved as it is very likely that chemo will make me sterile. The plan is for me to start chemo the week after my finals which is May 9, 2023. I will forever be grateful for the opportunity that I have received and the grant money to help my family finance this process of my cancer journey.
