Dr. Akanksha Mehta is Assistant Professor of Urology at Emory University School of Medicine. Dr. Mehta graduated magna cum laude from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations. She attended Brown University Medical School in Providence, RI, where she also did her General Surgery internship and Urology residency. She then completed a fellowship in Male Infertility and Microsurgery at Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York, NY, before joining Emory Urology in 2013. Dr. Mehta’s clinical and research interests lie in male reproductive medicine, sexual medicine, and microsurgery. She is the Director of Male Reproductive Health at Emory Urology, and a Guest Researcher at the Division of Reproductive Health at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Her research focuses on improving access to care for male reproductive health, and on promoting fertility preservation, and the recovery of sexual function amongst male cancer survivors. She has authored several book chapters and peer-reviewed publications in Urology, and has presented at both regional and national meetings. Dr. Mehta is a member of the American Urologic Association, the American Society of Reproductive Medicine, the Society for the Study of Male Reproduction, the Sexual Medicine Society of North America, and the Society of Women in Urology. Specialties: Urology (Board certified since 2015) Dr. Mehta is closely involved in teaching and mentoring medical students and urology residents. She serves as at the Director of Urology Undergraduate Medical Education at Emory, and as Assistant Program Director for the Emory Urology residency training program. Outside of Urology, Dr. Mehta maintains a keen interest in International Health, and has been involved in providing clinical care in Cambodia, Kenya, and Bangladesh.
